Believe it or not, the most important food that you can use is water. The human body is made up of nearly 70% water, and everything in the body depends on water to work.

Making sure that your body always has enough water can help many health conditions. In fact, there was a medical doctor in India who did an experiment on exactly this. The only thing he did was to ensure that all his patients were always fully hydrated, which means that they always has as much water as their body needed. To his surprise, many of the chronic conditions that the people were suffering from started to improve, and the only thing that was consistent in all their treatments was that they all had enough water, all of the time.

When we think about this it is very logical. Your body removes toxins or harmful substances that have built up inside you, through the kidneys. The kidneys filter an enormous amount of water every day. Here is an amazing fact: you have about 3 litres (5-6 pints) of blood in your body, yet your body filters around 180 litres of blood each day (approximately 47 gallons or 380 pints). That means that the same blood has to be filtered about 60 times in the 24-hour period. Are you beginning to see the importance of water now? What is even more amazing, is that 25% of all the blood that is in your heart goes straight to the kidneys to be filtered. Even though the kidneys are really quite tiny (representing less than 0.4% of the weight of the human body) they are incredibly active. Each tiny kidney has over 1 million miniature filters in there.

You might well ask the question, how could you possibly fit in a million tiny filters into something the size of the kidney? Well, the answer is that it is all part of natures hidden design and the miracle of life that we take for granted each day. I will go into more detail about exactly how the kidneys work in another post. When you consider all the amazing facts about the human body, you have to marvel at its design and realise that this could not have happened by chance. Because we are all so busy with our lives these days, we never really stop to think about how much water we drink on a daily basis. Maybe now is the time to start taking notice, and give your kidneys a helping hand, by drinking at least 2 litres of water a day whether you like it or not!
